The Dimensions Report offers valuable insight into how students are performing across the three dimensions of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). This report is particularly useful for spotting areas of mastery and identifying where students may need additional support.

What This Help Article Covers:

πŸ“ˆ Overview of the Dimensions Report

The Dimensions Report provides insights into student performance by tracking proficiency percentages across the three NGSS dimensions:

  • Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs) – Content knowledge mastery

  • Science & Engineering Practices (SEPs) – Application of scientific skills

  • Crosscutting Concepts (CCCs) – Scientific thinking patterns

These percentages represent the percentage of questions answered correctly for that dimension across ALL your students and assessments in a given school year.

The colors represent the different proficiency scales.

The default proficiency ranges are:

  • Advanced: 60%

  • Proficient: 40%

  • Basic: 20%

  • Below Basic: 0%

Default ranges are based on patterns observed in state science test scale scores across multiple NGSS-aligned states.
