District Administrators have access to InnerOrbit’s District Report, which provides dimensional data by school to help track mastery across the district.


📊 Overview of the District Report

The District Report provides insights into student performance across all schools in your district by analyzing proficiency levels for the three NGSS dimensions:

  • Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs) – Content knowledge mastery

  • Science & Engineering Practices (SEPs) – Application of scientific skills

  • Crosscutting Concepts (CCCs) – Scientific thinking patterns

❓How to Access the District Report:

  1. Navigate to the "Reports" tab

  2. Select the "District" subtab

How to Navigate the Report:

🔄 Toggle Between Dimensions

  • View school performance for DCIs, SEPs, and CCCs.

📊 Compare School vs. District Averages

  • The purple bar at the top shows district-wide averages, allowing comparison with individual school results.

⚙️ Customize Proficiency Ranges

InnerOrbit’s default proficiency ranges can be customized to better reflect your district’s goals, but note that these changes reset each time you visit the page.

To adjust:

  1. Click inside the proficiency range box.

  2. Input the desired value.

  3. Press "Enter" to apply your changes.

💡 Pro Tip: If you’d like custom proficiency ranges set for your district based on your state test scale scores, please contact your account manager.


🧭 Origin of Data: Where Do These Numbers Come From?

The District Report presents dimensional proficiency percentages across all schools within a district, calculated using:

  • Percentage of Correct Responses

    • The % of questions answered correctly for each dimension across all students and assessments in a given school year.

  • Color-Coded Proficiency Categories

    • Default ranges are based on patterns observed in state science test scale scores across multiple NGSS-aligned states.

The default proficiency ranges are:

  • Advanced: 60%

  • Proficient: 40%

  • Basic: 20%

  • Below Basic: 0%

🔀 Filters to Customize Your Data

Find the exact data you need by applying filters:

  • 📅 Filter by Time Range

    • Example: View Quarter 1 data from August 1 - October 1.

  • 📝 Filter by Common Assessment

    • Analyze results for a specific district-wide assessment.

  • 📈 Compare School Years

    • Track student performance trends across multiple years.

💡 Examples & Tips for Using the District Report

  • Analyze Common Assessments Across Schools – Compare school performance on shared assessments.

  • Check Overall Dimensional Mastery – Identify trends in student understanding across the district.

    • Be Aware of Diagnostic Data – This report includes all assessments, even those given early in the year for diagnostics.

  • Compare District Data Across School Years – Monitor growth over time, especially for common assessments.

  • Identify Key Questions for Further Analysis – Use this data to generate wonderings before diving deeper into individual Dimensions Reports.
