InnerOrbit’s drawing-response questions help students create a model, diagram, or graph to show their thinking.
InnerOrbit-created drawing-response questions are tagged as 3D because they assess all three dimensions.

When to Use Drawing/Modeling Questions
Use drawing questions when you want students to:
Model a system or process (inputs/outputs, interactions, cause and effect)
Create or label a diagram (structures, cycles, energy flow, forces)
Represent data visually (simple graphs, trends, relationships)
Explain with visuals (arrows, labels, annotations that clarify thinking)
Student Drawing Tools
Students can complete drawing questions using the built-in drawing tools. Students can draw using a touchscreen + stylus (or finger). They can also draw using a mouse or trackpad.
Students can customize their drawing with:
Pencil color options
Pencil line width options
Shape stamps for quick modeling (size adjustable), including:

💡 Tip: Hold your mouse click (or press with your stylus) when adding a stamp. Keep holding as you drag to change the size and direction, then release.
Editing tools
The "Undo" button to undo the previous step
The "Clear Drawing" button to clear the entire drawing area and start over
Typing directly inside a drawing question isn’t available yet. If you want students to include a written explanation, pair the drawing question with a free-response question.
Creating Your Own Drawing-response Questions
Currently, the only way to create your own drawing-response questions is through the "Upload" feature.
When you upload a drawing-response question, you can include an image students can draw on, like a blank graph with labeled axes or a diagram template.
