In this article, we'll discuss how district administrators can export student assessment data as a CSV from InnerOrbit. You can then upload this student data into most Data Management Systems.

We'll discuss:

Considerations for Mastery Data

Typically, the student assessment data districts want to use in their Data Management Systems is MASTERY data. This means that the data being exported represents students' proficiency on science standards.

To produce MASTERY data on InnerOrbit, we recommend assessments include only 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional questions.

Assessments with 1-Dimensional questions can still be informative, but do not reflect standard mastery.

How to access CSV export

  1. Navigate to "Reports" < "Assignments"

  2. Click "View the Full Report" of a specific assessment

  3. Scroll down to the blue Question Data Table (it might be a bit of scrolling if many students took the assessment)

  4. Click "Download Student Standards Report"

Explanation of CSV Data

As a district admin, you have access to all district student data for this assessment in this CSV.

  • This CSV is ALL-TIME student data for this assessment.

    • If students took this same assessment last year, filter for this year's data in "Date Taken" Column

Columns A-L include information for the student, teacher, and assessment.

Column M is the Assignment Score.

  • If a student correctly answer 8 out of 10 questions, the score is 80%

  • This score is HIGHLY dependent on the assessment's questions' rigor.

The remainder of column show NGSS dimension data. Review the data per dimension in bundles of 3 columns:

  • Dimension % Scored

  • Dimension Points Scored

  • Dimension Points Possible

Tips for Importing to Other Data Management Systems

Depending on your data management system, you may need specific identifiers to match this InnerOrbit data into your system.

For Clever-sync'd districts, the Student ID in Column D is a commonly used identifier.

Additionally, the student email in Column C is another possible identifier.

Please email support@innerorbit.com if you need identifiers that you do not see in the CSV.
