Text-to-Speech
Students can have the text in assessments read to them (not including any text in figures/images)! Students click the "Listen" or "Play" button for the phenomenon and questions:
To turn text-to-speech on for a specific STUDENT:
Visit your "Rosters" tab
Click "View all Students" in your roster
Click on the student name
Change the listening setting to "on".
To turn text-to-speech on for entire ROSTER:
Visit your "Rosters" tab
Click "turn on listening for this roster" blue button
Text Size
All students can change the size of the text in their assessments by clicking on the two "T's" on the bottom left of their assessment screen. This is default setting and does not need to be individually set!
Image Magnification
All students can magnify images in assessments by clicking on the image to see an enlarged version. This is default setting and does not need to be individually set!
Recommended Translator: Google Translate
Google Translate integrates with InnerOrbit's text on phenomena descriptions questions, and answer choices to translate content into any language. Explore the two methods for using Google Translate below. ⬇️
Option 1: Google Chrome Extension (translates phenomena descriptions and answer choices)
Option 2: Built-in Google Translate for Webpages (translates phenomena descriptions, questions, and answer choices)
Option 1: Google Chrome Extension
The Google Chrome Extension translates highlighted words or phrases within phenomena descriptions and question answer choices by clicking the icon.
However, the extension will not translate:
The assessment question in blue
Text within images
If you would like the assessment question translated, please refer to option 2 to use the built-in browser translation feature.
To Change Pop-up Translation Options:
You can change the Google Translate Extension setting to pop-up the word/phrase translation automatically ("Options" > "Immediately Display Popup").
Option 2: Built-in Google Translate for Webpages
When using the Google Chrome Browser, users can translate an entire webpage by following the directions below:
1. In the student's Google Chrome browser window, click on the three dots to open the browser menu. Then, select "Translate...".
2. Once open, click on the three dots to view additional options.
3. Click on "Choose Another Language", then select the desired language.
4. The webpage should automatically translate. If not, please refresh the page. Please note that text within images are not translated.
