InnerOrbit's Beta Intervention Activities are teacher-facilitated activities for whole-class or small-group remediation that help teachers respond to student data and prepare for future assessments.

These collaborative activities connect Science and Engineering Practices (SEP) or Crosscutting Concepts (CCC) with content knowledge to address learning gaps in 4 simple steps:

Intervention Activities are in BETA development for Spring 2026.

💡 Learn how InnerOrbit's Intervention Activities help educators to:

Skip ahead to FAQs 🤓

1. Set Intervention Focus

📈 Option 1: Respond to Assessment Data

If you see a pink intervention pop-up on your Assignment Reports, InnerOrbit identified questions where students may benefit from additional support.

🧑‍🏫 Whole Group (Tier 1)

Less than 50% question accuracy

When most students (more than 50%) miss a 2D question, you'll see "View Recommended Activity" in a pink pop-up:

➡️ What to do:

  1. Click "View recommended activity" to see the intervention activity for the standard of the 2D question.

  2. Review the activity details, then save and assign the intervention activity to your students.

👥 Small Group (Tier 2)

50–69% question accuracy

When fewer than half of the students missed a 2D question, you'll see "Find out Which Students" on the pink pop-up:

➡️ What to do:

  1. Click "Find out which students" to jump to the question matrix.

  2. Look for the brain icon on specific questions.

    1. Students with incorrect answers to those questions (red squares) may benefit from an intervention activity:

  3. Click "View recommended activity."

  4. Review the activity details, then save and assign it to your students.

📝 Option 2: Prepare For An Assessment

You can assign an Intervention Activity even if you haven’t given an assessment on InnerOrbit yet, especially if you want to review a unit or prepare for a test.

  • We're creating BETA activities for the most popular spring PEs, with more being added each week!

FAQs

What are Intervention Activities?

InnerOrbit's Intervention Activities are teacher-facilitated activities designed for whole-class or small-group remediation.

These collaborative activities help students connect a Science and Engineering Practice (SEP) or Crosscutting Concept (CCC) with content knowledge (DCI) to solve real scientific problems.

They're perfect for responding to student data or preparing for assessments.

Which PEs does the intervention activities have?

We've created intervention activities for the most-searched PEs this time of year.

Additional PEs, including PS & ESS activities, will be added in early March during Beta testing.

Why use them?

These activities bridge the gap between basic content recall and true three-dimensional thinking.

Whether you're working with your entire class (Tier 1) or supporting specific students who need extra help (Tier 2), these evidence-based MTSS strategies provide meaningful remediation without impacting assessment data.

How long do these activities take?

Each activity takes one class period or less.

Every Intervention Activity includes a teacher guide with a detailed time breakdown to help you plan and structure your class session.

What does the assignment report recommendation mean?

When 2D or 3D questions have lower than 50% accuracy, we recommend an intervention activity focused on either SEP or CCC.

If 50% or more of students missed these questions (less than 50% accuracy), we recommend the activity for the whole group (Tier 1).

If fewer than 50% of students missed them (50–69% accuracy), we recommend the activity for a small group (Tier 2).

Who are these activities for?

These activities are designed for whole-class (Tier 1) intervention based on class-level data trends in InnerOrbit, though they can be adapted for small-group (Tier 2) use.

Currently available for Middle and High School.

Do Intervention Activities affect student scores?

No. Intervention Activities are formative learning experiences and do not affect grades.

Teachers can view student responses in assignment reports, but the data will not appear in the gradebook, dimension reports, or PE reports.

How can I provide feedback on an Intervention Activity?

We would love your feedback!

Intervention Activities are currently in beta, and your feedback helps us improve them.

On each activity, you will see emojis 😍 .

Click on them to share your thoughts directly with our team.

If you have a question or need support, please use the chat bubble so we can respond to you.
