You’ve assigned your assessment, and now it’s test day! Instead of just waiting for scores to roll in, InnerOrbit gives you ways to stay connected with your students’ progress. Here are some features to help you keep things running smoothly and support your students in real time:

Assignment Report Page: Your Test-Day Hub

The Assignment Report page is your main control center on assessment day. Here, you can monitor each student’s progress in real-time, including how many questions they’ve answered and how many are left. To access it, go to the Reports tab and select View the Full Report for the assessment you’re administering.

Pro Tip: Refresh the page regularly to track real-time progress. This way, you’ll stay on top of student pacing and can identify any students who might need extra support.

Features in the Assignment Report to Managing Student Submissions

❌ Unsubmit Student Answers

If a student is rocketing through the assessment too quickly, you can unsubmit their answers to let them review and make adjustments.

How to Unsubmit:

  • Navigate to the Administration column on your roster.

  • Select Unsubmit next to the student’s name, then confirm.

  • You’ll know the assessment has been unsubmitted when you see the Submit Incomplete option reappear.

Force Submit Student Answers

When time’s up, you can wrap up the assessment by force-submitting responses for individual students or the entire class.

How To Force Submit:

  • For individual students, go to the Administration column, select Submit Incomplete, and confirm.

  • To submit all responses at once, click the red Force Submit All Answer Sheets button. Once submitted, the Unsubmit option will be available for each student.

Customizing Access in the Assessment Builder

Assessment Builder Page

The Assessment Builder offers customizable tools to control access and tailor the test experience based on your needs. Access it by going to the Library tab, select the assessment you’re administering, or make these adjustments while building your assessment.

🔒 Locking and Unlocking an Assessment

Manage assessment availability with the lock/unlock feature.

  • In the Assessment Builder, look under each assigned roster for the green lock icon. If unlocked, students can start the assessment; if locked, students won’t be able to begin until it’s unlocked.

Practical Uses for Locking/Unlocking:

  • Scheduled Assessments: Assign multiple assessments at once—whether for warm-ups, diagnostics, formatives, or summative tests—and unlock them when you’re ready to administer. This way, you can prep ahead for an entire unit!

  • Accommodations & Modifications: Create different versions of the assessment for specific students. (For more information, see: How can I assign an assessment to one student or a small group of students?

  • Retakes for Remediation: Use this feature to assign a retake to students scoring below a set threshold.

Note: once misconceptions have been corrected, it would be best to assign these students a different assessment that covers the same performance expectation(s) to help students demonstrate their improved understanding in a fresh context.

📩 Releasing Student Scores

When setting up an assessment, you can decide if students will see their scores immediately or if they’ll only see completion status.

  • Don’t Show Scores to Students: Students will see that they’ve completed the assessment without seeing specific feedback.

  • Show Answers and Scores to Students: Students will see their overall grade and which questions they got right or wrong (without the correct answer being revealed).
